LIFE's Toughest Questions

Hello Readers. It's been quite a while since my last post, almost a semester - a drastic one, a life-changing one for me! I came across different people, many questions struck but unfortunately, I couldn't find answers to many. And surprisingly, I haven't found them yet! So, more than just a post about how I see things, this is going to be a post with questions about how one should  see things!

I love trying different things  and at times, get so much involved that they become necessity of my life. Well, this semester was no different. I tried my hands at playing guitar [infact more than just a try], tried to enhance my poetry skills and did a bit of earning through online tutoring forums. But, the best part was finding  three completely unique lifelong friends who are a lot different from the normal lot. Being with them for almost four months  posed many questions in my mind  which we, as students,  often face but seeing  and folllowing  the general trend , end up choosing the wrong path and getting frustrated!

What should you choose as your career option [this includes choice in stream after 10th and choice in discipline after 12th and lot more]? ?Should you go for huge salary promising options [most common being Computer Science] or should you get yourself driven by your passion?? Two of my friends chose the second option and will be going to Japan and Spain for internship next month [they were literally struggling even in Board Examinations 18 months back]. Second option involves a huge risk factor but then, even if things go wrong, you are nobody to blame but yourself! I have seen people going for the first option and then, crying for not following their heart. Forgot to mention, I chose the first option [and I feel no other choice could have been better for me]. It's an open-ended question! Try and figure it out.

Incase you have decided to go for the first option, should you try and be the best [academically] ghotting [studying] day and night, the way you used to do till 12th or should you go into LITE [chill] mode and start finding answers to your unanswered desires?? Last semester, my life kept revolving around this question. Last semester was ' That phase of my life when I knew I could do well and so, I was doing well but I was not amongst the best because I was not trying to be the best!!' This still remains an unanswered question to me  but will definitely find answer to it by May2017 [end of next semester].

There are few more questions which I will be disclosing in other posts. Having said that, this post would be incomplete without me mentioning suggestions, My Voice. First and foremost, do not go for Computer Science or some similar option just because you and your relatives think it will be best for you! You will have to carry the degree lifelong. Make your choice wisely! Also, there is no harm in fulfilling your desires but, neglecting studies completely can never be the correct option. And most important being, make sure you are nobody to blame but yourself for every action you take!

Keep learning! Keep improving! Do watch out for my next post on APOGEE 2K17[especially if you are in college].

Cheers!!

The Inspirational TRUTH

Hi All. It's been quite a time since my last post but then, we all know this vacation thing. How often I have been questioned about  level of JEE and BITSAT these days!! Many droppers asked me if they could crack JEE or BITSAT in just an year preparation. Though my answer was always "YES" but, never could I give a convincing response to them.

But unlikely before, I have got a mind boggling inspirational story of my friend to share this time round. Ofcourse, a true one! But, before I begin I must mention that I will be using a fictitious name to maintain his privacy and keep my blog flourishing. Who knows you start following him neglecting my blog -XD.

A guy named Rohit Sharma, who had been performing exceptionally well till class XII, could not keep his calm during those vital JEE hours and ended up getting AIR under 2000, much below his expectations! Eventually, he chose to take MSc. Mathematics  in BITS Pilani. Being a meritorious and a very hardworking student, he managed to score a 9.375 CGPA in his first semester.

Everything was going pretty well when something strange happened, something he had never imagined in his wildest of dreams, something which turned out  to be blessing in disguise. After he came back from his winter vacations, he was accused of cheating in his first semester Chemistry Exam he took a month ago. He thought the instructor was kidding him and he laughed whole-heartedly infront of the instructor. The instructor felt badly insulted and called up a meeting . Though he was later proved innocent by Forensic  Scientist  but, was given a semester back due to his inappropriate behaviour with the instructor. Yeah, I am serious!!  A Semester Back due to laughing!!

And guess what, that was the last day for JEE-MAINS 2016 Registration. Luckily, he filled the form online and took it as  another opportunity to prove himself in this competitive world. With hardly 4 months remaining, he did everything he could and with lots of hardwork and dedicated efforts, he came out with flying colours. And now he feels, he is nobody to thank but, the instructor who gave him a Semester back!!! I know, this story would be incomplete without you knowing his actual results in the exams this year. Enough waiting, here I go:
Mains         : 270/360
BITSAT      :403/450
Advanced  : AIR-828

If he could do it in just 4 months, why can't you do it in the allotted 12 months or 24 months period!! I have always been saying in my posts that everything is pre-planned. One just needs to grab the opportunity whenever it comes. Keep your eyes open for the same...

Keep working hard. Hope you do wonders one day.
Cheers!!

The PANDA is on TALKS!

Hello Readers. Are you enjoying these vacations? Did you think of doing something new but have not started yet? Have you been motivated by somebody’s work and thought of trying your hand at it?? I,too, was the one who was motivated by a group of juniors who started off with something with a bang! Yeah, you got me correct. It was blogging!!

At the age when I was busy thinking only about IIT, they began off with something on a professional level. Before I even started blogging, these guys had already set a benchmark which kept motivating me to improve post by post. Competition tends to get the best out of you and I have been quite lucky in that respect. Their story inspired me a lot and so, I thought of posting it right here.
Hope you extract the most out of it. Enjoy reading…

“  It all started in June 2015. The summer vacations had just started and I was bored as hell. You all know summer vacations... They look appealing, but a few days in and everyone wants to go back to school ("At least we can talk to people"). I knew I needed to do something constructive, something that I enjoyed and could also, if possible, help people... That's when I started PANDA Talks. People ask me why I chose that name. The answer is, I have no idea. It just clicked. Hence, PANDA Talks!!

It hasn't even been a year since I started this and I am completely overwhelmed by the response this thing got... It was like a dream come true. I started alone at first, posting valuable information about computers that people could benefit from, and slowly grew to be the first choice for everyone in our school and district to get any computer related information. I and my friend Manas Khatri, used to have competitions and all, aimed at increasing our popularity. Through this, I met Gagan Yadav, who started as an editor and eventually became the co-admin, and together we brought PANDA Talks to a whole new level.

Our first big success was the "Flappy Bug! 333", a game which we made and held a competition and also gave big prizes to those who got the highest scores.... The response was amazing. After that, we held a lucky draw and quite satisfactorily concluded it and, to our amazement and luck, a teacher also won, which gave us quite a good name ("wink")!! I am very proud of my team who did such an amazing job and I hope that we will be able to take this initiative to an even higher level!! Credits to the PANDA team :

VAibhav GArg (Myself) - Founder, Admin
Gagan Yadav - Co-Admin, Financial Executive
Vibhav Garg (My brother) - Editor
Manas Khatri - Editor
Ayush Bhardwaj - Moderator

Special thanks to my very good friend Samarth Vohra as he has been invaluable in this initiative and has provided vital help every time it is asked from him.

So, I hope that I will be able to take PANDA Talks to even greater heights and some day make it known worldwide. That is my dream. ”

THE THREE DAYS- That changed Life

Hello Readers. I know it’s been quite a time since my last post. But then, I was very busy with my comprehensive examinations this month. I sincerely hope that you are doing well with your preparations for JEE-ADVANCED 2016. No, don’t expect any sort of tonic or magic from my side!!! Infact, there is something much more than that, something which will prepare you for the worst while helping you to remain optimistic  more often than not.

The memories of 24th-26th May 2015 are still fresh in my mind. Those three days changed my life completely and steered my boat in a direction I had never imagined in my wildest of dreams!! The first day was no less than a tragedy to me, something which could have easily led to depression while the last of these three served as icing on the cake- the cake which I cut on 27th May( my birth-date ).

While entering the examination hall on 24 May, I was pretty confident of securing under 500 AIR in JEE and the way Paper-I went, expectations rose even higher. But, probably the scorching heat, broken window, warm air loo and the burden of expectations ruined Paper-II and shattered my dreams. But who knew that everything was pre-planned by the Almighty.

Though I could not even sleep that night, the day after turned out to be the best day of my life. With Board Examinations Results declared on 25th afternoon, I was on seventh sky and with journalists and reporters taking photographs and interviews, I had almost forgotten of what happened to me 24 hours ago! I had finally achieved what my school teachers and Principal expected from a DOMINICAN….

Then came 26th May, THE BITSAT DAY. Being completely non-serious about BITSAT, I even thought of skipping the same. But, then eventually decided to give the exam to prove myself that I am worth it and 24th May was just one bad day. With least of fear, I literally nailed BITSAT exam. Even after killing it in BITSAT, I might have not chosen to be a BITSian had I not been guided by my teacher cum friend Mr. Yogesh Pathak, the only reason of mine being in BITS!!!

Finally after two years, it was party time and the occasion could have been nothing better than my birthday on 27th May. As I said, everything is pre-planned. We just need to grab the opportunity laid before us and then, we will have a hell of a story to reveal to our juniors!!

P.S.: People are often motivated by their seniors. But, what if their juniors start off with something that  sets a benchmark for them. Yes!! Yes!! Before I even started blogging, the benchmark had already been set by a group of juniors. I will be sharing more about it in my next post.

"IIT's / BITS / Others"----Time to Rethink

Hello Readers. The trailer is finally over and the real movie will be coming your way!!! Are you all set for the coming challenges??  What! WAIT a minute. If you think you have conquered the world by killing it in JEE-Mains then, you are all set to dig a pit for yourself. And  If you think you are not good enough just because you could not handle the pressure on ‘THE DAY’ then –‘HANG ON’. Calm down and relax. You still have more than a month, more than 31 days, more than 317 hours to change your destiny!!!

What is done is done and  what  needs  to be done should be done in the best way possible. You just need to brush up on your weaknesses and there you are!!! Be your own creator. But, before you begin working rigorously, give yourself a minute. Think for a moment. With no intention to demoralize or to demotivate, I might sound offensive in my views but they might eventually help you in the long run.

You need to realize whether you are the  actual ‘JEE MATERIAL’. If yes, then go ahead. But if the answer is no, try to make the most of the remaining time and opportunities.  No magic is bound to happen in just one and a half month!!! Analyse your present situation and then choose about your dream college. I witnessed many of my friends putting their efforts in wrong direction last year and finally ending up with nothing. Let me make myself a bit clearer.

When we talk about deemed Universities and colleges-the list goes:
1. IIT’s [Top 4-5]       2. BITS PILANI      3. NIT’s        4. Renowned  Private Universities       5. Govt. Colleges

The  attempt for NIT’s is already over. Incase, you have not been doing good since last two years, there is no harm in trying your best to get into BITS PILANI or some other  deemed University rather than trying your bit to get into IIT when you could hardly qualify JEE-Mains 2016. With more than a month remaining, the best strategy  would be to try your hand at PREVIOUS  YEAR  QUESTIONS asked in exams conducted by different Universities . Get out of the illusion and hype of IIT’s. Many of my friends in BITS didn’t choose to take admission into IIT’s even after securing AIR under 1500 in JEE-ADVANCED 2015.

Hang on!! I never meant that brand value of IIT’s is declining. Infact , it never would. Incase, you have been doing good academically, keep up the same spirit and keep working even harder. Just one and a half more month and you will see yourself in your dream IIT . Try to invest more time on topics you found more difficult initially and practice more and more questions. Don’t dare to ignore INORGANIC CHEMISTRY!!! I ignored  it and it paid me off. Focusing more on doing problems and less on reading theory will prove to be a better strategy.

Give yourself some time to think and take your decision wisely. Make a proper strategy, plan your schedule and proceed accordingly. Whatever decision you take, make sure you don’t have to regret  for it in  future. Be your own decision maker and may you succeed!!! Always feel  free to message me up when in need.

The New 'KICK' in LIFE

Hello Readers. I know I had been focusing too much on Academics in my previous few posts. But, this one is definitely out of that league!! After my college life began last year, I had probably gone into some other mode. The word ‘LITE’( lingo @ BITS ) had become part of my personality. Though things were going well, but then, life had probably become monotonous. There was no ‘KICK’ left in life. Days passed by and so did the first semester.

In the second semester, I was desperate enough to bring my life on track. Thankfully, few things came into my life at right time or rather, I brought them into my life!! It felt as if the ‘NEW KICK’ had come into life. Along with blogging and few other things, poem writing was one of them.

Though I had always been passionate about writing poems ( in English) in my school days,  but the Surprising Start ( 8 weeks ago)  of writing poems in Hindi turned out pretty well for me. After a lot of encouragement by my friends, I thought of sharing one with you. So, here I go……

Hope you  enjoyed reading it…

How to go about for JEE-MAINS 2016???

Hello Readers. How are you going on with your preparations for JEE MAINS 2016?? Well, almost 10 months before, you took a decision to take a drop and invest an year to get into some reputed college and ‘THE DAY’ is not far away when you will participate in a battle to prove  your decision right. After 10 months of extreme hardwork and whole-hearted dedication to crack JEE , the period of great confusion and anxiousness is probably knocking your doors.

‘JEE PRESSURE’ might have started overpowering you but more than just to cope up with  ‘JEE PRESSURE’, the bigger challenge lies in making the most out of remaining few days and proper ‘Revision Strategy’ for such vast syllabus of  JEE!!! Indeed, you must be muddled about how to prioritize between ‘problem solving’ and ‘notes revision’. Though I never experienced this phase ( since I didn’t choose to drop ), but my journey was no different. Indeed ‘notes revision' is important, but you can’t simply ignore ‘problem solving’ as that’s what you are supposed to do during those 3 hours of ‘THE DAY’.

With hardly 20 days left for the EXAM, you need to make the most of each remaining day and make each remaining hour count!!! So, here I am sharing ‘Revision Strategy’ for JEE MAINS  for the remaining few days….

MARCH 13-MARCH 20

·         Devote this phase for Notes Revision.
·         Make sure you have revised the entire syllabus and have not left any stone unturned.
·         Make sure you don’t completely get out of touch with problem solving.
·          If your notes contain some good questions, do solve them as part of revision. Otherwise, do solve atleast 15 questions(  better if you solve questions from MAINS 2000, MAINS 2001 and so on ) each of Physics and Maths every day so as  not to get completely out of touch with problem solving.
·         Write all the formulae, equations, logics or data which you keep forgetting or you find a bit more important in some notebook ( you can use it on the last day for revision ).
·         Do not solve any sample paper during this phase!!! It’s always better to first get completely equipped with arms and ammunitions and then, go for the battle….

MARCH 21-MARCH 30

·         Being equipped with all arms, you are ready to fight one battle each day!! Solve one sample paper each day ( better if you solve from 10-01 in the morning hours ). Solve it seriously but make sure the sample paper you are solving is not previous year JEE MAINS paper!!
·         Use it as a measure of self-evaluation. Make a note of questions you could not answer correctly and give a go through your ‘JEE NOTES’ to revise concept you could not decipher in those questions. This way you will not get out of touch with ‘notes revision’ as well!!!
·         Make proper analysis of each sample paper solved. Try to know your weaker points and try to bring some increase in your score by each passing day.
·         Solve previous year JEE MAINS questions as a part of problem solving in the remaining part of the day and give a go through your ‘JEE NOTES’ for questions you could not crack.
·         Do not go for solving very advanced problems. It’s time to revise your already developed concepts rather than developing new ones!!!
·         You can also go through some previously solved questions, your sheets and other materials as a part of problem solving in the remaining time.
·         Meanwhile, keep editing the notebook made during phase 1.

MARCH 31- APRIL2

·         Well, you are almost done with most of the things by now. Just keep yourself motivated and feel high about yourself.
·         Solve some recent JEE MAINS question papers to boost up your self-confidence.
·         Just keep things simple. Don’t bother too much about revision again and again!!!
·         Make proper use of important point notebook made during phases-I and II. Revise it properly atleast two times ( or even more ).
·         So, you must have been developed  into a dynamite by now ready to explode anytime...

APRIL 3

·         TIME TO EXPLODE!!!!
